Half Step Forward
Today was only a half a commute, as Cindy was picking me up after work to head down to Fraze Pavillion for the Over The Rhine show they were nice enough to put on just for the occasion of my birthday (OK… maybe it was for other people too, and it was a day late, but I can pretend).
I tested the legs a bit, left hamstring in particular, to see where I was at. And where I am at is riding pretty comfortably and with no real difficulty. Every so often I’ll have that muscle spasm for no apparent reason, but I feel better on the bike than anywhere else.
The biggest problem I have right now is sitting in the office chair for any length of time, always having that hamstring dangling over the edge of the chair exactly where it’s the most sore. Walking further than around the house or office is also apparently more difficult than I had thought.
While walking to and from the car at Fraze I found that my left leg doesn’t extend quite as far forward as normal, and much less than the right leg. It’s more noticible when at a normal walking pace or faster. So while I’m not limping, I have this odd half-step lurch that is apparently quite amusing.
That’s OK, though.. I don’t show up on Monday/Wednesday/Friday evenings for a group walk. It’s a ride, and that I can do. I think.
Bonus of the Day: while at Fraze, I ran into Adam, a cycling friend of Craig’s who makes occasional appearances on the Ashville trips. He asked me if I was goin’ to the Festive show. I said no, I’d be out of town. Wait… what day? Friday. Oh.. I thought it was Saturday. Then we both weren’t sure. But I got home and double checked and now, instead of missing a Saturday show while traveling up to Cleveland, I get to go see the Friday show after the ride. It’s like a whole nuther birthday party! Sweeeeeeeeeet! 40 Days of 40 continues.
